Why Hasnt China Tried to Make a Digital Leica Clone?

Almost 10 years ago, I flew to Photokina and published a first-impressions review of the Zenit M Digital rangefinder. In this case, Zenit and Leica collaborated on making the camera. That, of course, was a Russian company. And this collaboration has had me questioning something for years: where is a Chinese collaboration?
